The IEP

The IEP is a legal document.
The IEP is like a blueprint for a student's map to success, in which a team of people are invested in the goals for the future of the individual student.

  • This meeting involves parents, and think of how you would feel as a parent when you deliver information as the teacher.
  • This is a meeting about the student's education... Other issues can be settled at a different meeting.
  • Hold a pre-IEP meeting and get on the same page with the key points as everyone involved in meeting.

  • Ensure all information presented is easily understood by parents and everyone at meeting.
  • Bring documentation, graphs, work samples, easy to understand information to show progress.
  • Have a time schedule, and hold those involved in meeting to a time limit as much as possible, with respect.
